Best air purifier money can buy?

See the AutoModerator comment. Air purifiers aren't good at reducing visible dust or pet hair as both are large and heavy compared to "invisible" pollutants like PM2.5. See the sticky post at the top of the subreddit and our other subreddit resources on dust: I need an air purifier for dust. What sh

Severe allergies, 1230 sq condo. Need some help

So unfortunately cigarette or marijuana smoke isn't just particulates, but also gases/vapors/odors/VOCs. You need many pounds of activated carbon and/or other sorbent media for gases/vapors/odors/VOCs. Heavyweight sorbent media purifiers are very loud, very expensive (~$600 and up), and clean the ai

Need Advice for Buying Air Purifier(s)

Just ignore the coverage claims. The 2,126 sq. ft. value applies to 2 Air Changes per Hour (ACH). I would take the top Smoke CADR and multiply it by 1.5 to get the largest room size. For the Coway Airmega ProX's Smoke CADR of 568 CFM, this means the largest room size would be 852 sq. ft. with an 8 f

I’m on the hunt for the best true HEPA air purifier. Any suggestions?

For 600 ft^2, and assuming 8 foot ceilings, you've got a volume of 600*8 =4,800 ft^3. To get 5 ACH, you need a CADR of 4800/12 = 400 CFM. There's no single purifier that gives that CADR without being loud. The closest is the Smart Air Blast MKII, which, according to Housefresh.com, is 41.9 dBA at 37

Smart Air Blast Mk II vs. Coway Airmega ProX

I agree trying a different set of filters is a good suggestion, which I why I've already done that myself! 😄 A couple of weeks ago I contacted Coway, and they sent me a new set of filters. They've been running for about five days, and emit the same odor, though it's possible they're airing out faste

Allergy-Focused Setup (3 rooms) for medium-speed performance + reasonable noise

Levoit will still clean your air. They even publish PM2.5 CADRs for most of their models. While the Levoit Vital series and EverestAir perform very well, they may not have the build quality of the more premium Coway units. Is it better to slightly oversize units so they’re effective on medium/quiet

Air purifier for 1200 sq Ft apartment

See the AutoModerator comment. Purifiers aren't good at reducing visible dust particles as they're large and heavy compared to "invisible" pollutants like PM2.5. An even stronger argument could be made for dog hair. If you don't have one already, I'd get a good quality bagged vacuum cleaner with a H

Apartment smells like weed/cigarettes and it's suffocating me. Desperate for relief before I go bankrupt staying at a hotel

FWIW, I have bad environmental allergies to chemicals and smoke, both of which block my nasal passages and result in sinus infections. For years, the air filter I used was the IQ Air HealthPro Plus, which is modestly effective. More recently, I bought a Coway Airmega ProX, which seems to be more eff

Allergic to dust/dust mites and dander: are these good options?

With dust mite allergens, you can try reducing relative humidity (RH) below 50% for a prolonged period. (Another study recommended RH of 45% or lower if I recall correctly.) This should kill them off. For the bedroom: of the two, I would tend to choose the Coway Airmega 350. You'll definitely need t
