If I’m not chasing gear, but my current system still isn’t getting me the results I want, is it time to switch or time to change my approach?
Color rendition can be adjusted if shooting RAW and post processing. If working in Lightroom try the different color profiles (Adobe Color/Portrait/Vivid/Neutral/etc but also go into browse and try the Camera matching ones Camera Stanadard/Portrait/Vivid/etc...) Those are starting points and then yo

Canon R6 II or Nikon Z6 III for portraits + travel
I can almost guarantee everyone or at least 95% of people on this sub would say the Nikon. If you went to a canon sub, 95% of people would say canon. To get a more objective perspective try posting this question in either r/photography or a similar general camera sub. You can also check sites like t

If you want to stay Canon, you can just buy a mirrorless body with a $35 converter and still use all your EF lenses. I picked up a refurbished R8 during black friday using every trick in the book and I was out the door for $800. It's such an amazing camera. I'd get an R6 mkII on a budget for wedding

Second Camera Body
I just upgraded one of my R6 to a R6iii. It definitely is nice, but you'd have to buy some CFexpress cards and the new camera hates batteries that aren't the newest model of LP6. It gives warnings every time you turn on the camera with other real Canon batteries and won't turn on with 3rd party ones

R7 makes my old lenses better
You're going to love it. I bought it just to have a second body to go along with my R6ii, thinking it's old but it should be fine for a backup, and not to mention I scored a great deal on Canon refurbished. But, I honestly fell in love with it, and I now double gun on my events instead of just one c

Make this make sense, GH7 costs more than the full frame S5II
Different use cases. May I remind you the GH5 came out in 2017 for $2k. And the original S5 launched in 2019 also for $2k. You should be comparing it more to the S5IIX. Or idk, like a Canon R6ii to the C70 (except not costing $5.5k, the audacity). One's a hybrid camera with surprisingly robust video

Recommendations for basketball photography
For indoor sports especially, FF is a game changer. The R6ii is probably you're best "budget" (for some definition of budget...) option in the Canon lineup. I was very happy shooting basketball with the original R6 and an adapted EF 70-200 f/2.8. I'm even happier now with an R5ii and the RF 70-200,

Camera upgrade
Don't jump to mirrorless just for the sake of it. DSLRs focus great, battery life is great, solid workhorses that are being sold off cheap. Lenses will make a bigger difference in low light, so depends what lenses you're shooting with now. If you're cash strapped, look for a 5D III. Huge leap up fro

Bird photography while hiking
I'll pipe in here. I'm another geologist who's also an avid photographer. I have shot Canon for a while, moving from a 80D to a 5DIV to mirrorless with a R6 and now an R5 (Careful.... gear acquisition can be contagious). However, for the small, light and compact lenses there are very few. I went on
