Is the EF-M system actually dead?

What’s the definition of dead? Canon stopped making lenses - yeah then it’s dead. However I think the quality of the sensors is still good enough for 2026 and they are so incredibly portable. The little EF-M lenses are pretty good. I bought my M100 with the plan to adapt EF lenses but it’s so much n

I have R6 Mark II. Help me decide between R10 and R7 as an everyday camera.

Neither are compact. If you're serious about shedding size, New R50V is tiny. I found original R50 too wide. Canon M50 or even small M6 are what you're really asking for. M mount has the coveted 22m f/2. They fit in my coat pocket

What should be my next purchase?

Keep the M50. For photography you won’t get a lot, if any, benefit from upgrading to an R50. Plus you won’t be able to use your M mount lenses with an R camera. I love the M system and have way too many lenses for it. I’d suggest the following: Canon 22mm, it’s a must have for any M camera. It’s lik

Is the EF-M system actually dead?

If you own an EF-M camera currently, it's very much alive because you have it. I absolutely loved my dual M50s, and I loved the pictures I took with them. The EF-M 22mm f2 may be the best street photography auto-focus lens ever made. Adapting vintage and EF lenses is trivial. But there are problems:

Extender or New Lens?

The Kenko extender you linked isn't gonna work with your M50 since that's for full frame DSLRs. You'd need something like the Canon EF-M mount teleconverters, but those are pretty rare and expensive for what they are. For moon shots on a budget, I'd probably go with a manual focus telephoto instead.

Is the EF-M system actually dead?

Dead as in being made by Canon? Or as in new lenses coming? Then Yes it is. Dead as in worth buying and using at a reasonable price if it fits your needs? Then no it is not IMHO. I bought my first M series camera in late 2022 (knowing it was most likely dead from Canon then) and own 5 bodies now (M5

Is the EF-M system actually dead?

Yes, it’s ‘dead’ BUT there are still companies making native EFM lenses for them. I’d say it’s ‘dead’ like the EOS, Canon FD, M39, M42 mounts… lens mounts that are still popular and being used (and adapted) to modern cameras. As someone who uses an M6 MK II for personal use and whose office has a bu

15mm lens with good telephoto capabilities

I have the m50 my preferred lenses is the ef-m 22mm combined with the ef-m 55-200 both canon lenses fantastic…. Wider options you can go with prime lenses by sigma I think there is 16mm that is great but canons are small and light weight perfect for this compact camera in my opinion

Outdoor Travel Recommendations?

for your budget.... u get older technology... DSLR cameras are inexpensive but big Canon's first generation of mirrorless cameras had some absolute winners. i use the M6 Mark II and some tiny EF-M lenses as my travel camera https://flickr.com/photos/186162491@N07/albums/72177720306430498/ go to a go

Help on buying my first camera.

For $800 you're looking at either a used Canon R10 or maybe a new EOS M50 Mark II if you can find one on sale. The R10 is pretty solid for both photos and video, plus it's part of the newer RF mount system so you'll have more lens options down the road. M50 Mark II is cheaper but the EF-M lens selec
