As one of the people being cited here, I'd like to add that my grinder at the time (the Breville SGP) had a shitty motor, and the rock looked to be a piece of granite. And it wedged itself between the burrs. Also, my df83 was in the mail so I didn't bother trying to fix it.

Keep the Bambino, buy a better grinder. Edit: additional information Consider what you want out of your espresso experience and how much time investment you're intending to put into things. A nicer espresso machine will have better temperature stability, likely because you're trading thermoblock for

I think it depends on how many espressos youre making everyday. I use a manual grinder for an americano every morning and its really only 30 seconds of grinding for a really dialed in grind. if I have to make 4 cappuccinos? im using my slightly subpar electric grinder (I have an older breville smart

Breville bought Baratza because they know their own grinders suck. Avoid the Smart Grinder Pro at all costs! ESP or ESP Pro are the way to go. Go Pro if you have the points or extra cash.

Lance was one person who taught me to think, and challenge, when it comes to coffee. I spent many years trying to learn from internet forums before starting to think for myself lol. Find me the actual scientific proof that WDT matters. (You won't be able to, at least in a fashion where a human can t

I added bellows to my Breville smart grinder pro, and that helped with retention but nothing could make it a good grinder. Eventually I had to suck it up and buy a good single dose gri

Bambino Plus, yes go for it. I wish I had known about it before I had bought 2 other cheaper Breville machines. Smart Grinder Pro, please don't buy one of those. I got mine as an almost-freebie in a bundle with my Breville Dual Boiler and it was a a mistake. The SGP is not really good enough for a d

Use the better grinder for the coffee you use the most. So that’s caffeinated. If the new purchase is a better grinder - which we have to assume it will be - then use machine for decaf HOWEVER, you may have issues grinding fine enough for decaf with your machine so bear that in mind. There’s an inte

The best deal I have found (and I have tried a LOT), is Coffee Bean Direct Italian Roast Whole Bean Espresso from Amazon. I run a recording studio and between musicians and advertising agency clients, I go through a lot of coffee. A few years ago a 5lb. bag was $36. It's gone way up since I began bu
