What’s wrong with the integrated grinder? [Breville Barista Express]

It’s the second item - precision adjustment. The BBE has large ‘steps’. Steps are the settings of your grinder that you see on the side of the machine. The issue is you may pull a bitter shot at 7, but a sour shot at 8 and you’re out of luck to dial in further using grind size. That being said I use

I just want a simple, daily driver espresso setup at home [$700]

You’re right, they are using $6,000 grinder (jk) but they are probably using a commercial grinder and it’s probably around 3k or more. If you don’t want a fussy grinder do not get a df. If you are going for more traditional espresso and want simple efficiency, go with a eureka grind by time, dial it

Help me decide on a machine [$500]

Yea it’s better to have grinder and machine separate but for simplicity, I think the sage/breville barista express is the best. You have to look at tj maxx or Marshall’s to find it for $500 though.

Making Espresso at Home (First Machine) [$1k USD]

The little breville barista express is a cool machine but not the best grinder I sold mine used for $250. They go on sale around Black Friday for $500ish so def wait for a sale. Bambino is very close to being this machine minus the grinder and can be found cheap. The df64 gen 2 grinder that you ment

Barista Express Impress issues

I have a Breville Barista Express Impress, and I'll just share what I know so far. ❤️ For auto-grind, if the dose level after tamping is below the green bar/smiley face, just press the “Dose” button again and tamp. If it’s still below the green bar, repeat the process until the machine registers enou

Would yall say I’ve upgraded or downgraded?

Definitely an upgrade. The Sage/Breville grinder seems to get a lot of hate here but in my experience it’s not as bad as people make it sound. Sure, there are better grinders out there but the Sage does a perfectly fine job with one big caveat: it is almost certainly necessary to adjust the internal

Switching from BBE to Bambino

Id imagine they're pretty close to the same thing, so not worth it (not sure if the Bambino has a PID like the BBE though). I had a Breville Infuser for a long time which is the same brew setup as the BBE (no grinder). Great machine but when it died the upgrade I made was to a Dual Boiler (they are

What is something you officially stop buying in 2026 because the price is literally insulting?

I've never understood those dumb machines. I bought a Breville Barista Express espresso machine that has a really good conical grinder for $600 in 2015 that has served me quite well and is still going strong. Lived in an Art studio when I bought it and have put a ton of miles on it. Added bonus of i

Which Breville to Buy? [$800 Budget]

Agree with this. I started with a Breville Barista Express, but eventually wanted a better grinder, so I got a DF54. Later upgraded the machine to a Gaggia Classic with Gaggimate, and the Breville is now waiting to become a hand-me-down to one of my kids. Separate espresso machine and grinder gives

Espresso Machines

I have a Breville Barista Express, it’s fantastic. It has a built in grinder you can dial in, a steam wand, hot water (I use a kettle tbh the water isn’t hot enough) also the 1971 roast makes excellent espresso!
