I'm not quite at the point of leaving RM altogether, but I will agree that colored e-ink just doesn't seem like it's a very reliable point in its development. Having both the RM2 and RMPP (and using both regularly), it definitely seems like monochrome e-ink is the more robust of the two. Makes me wi

The only one that work with a subscription (and it’s not an obligation to subscribe though) is the remarkable with connect. There is no hidden fees. I’m not a software engineer but considering your use of obsidian you might like the onyx Boox devices since it is an android google play enabled device

Software and writing feel aside (which can be highly subjective) . I’d say it comes down to mostly three factors, the resolution, size, and colour If you want the highest resolution: Supernote manta (300ppi) >>RMPP at 229 ppi, the difference in resolution/clarity between the two is quite perceptible

Boox note Max is probably what you are looking for. 13.3 inch, black and white, paper like handwriting and you can use any keyboard with Bluetooth (although you can buy their keyboard cover). It doesn’t have a front light

You need size. 10 inches might work, but personally 13.3" like the Boox tab xc or the Boox note max would be a significantly better experience. If you can, scaling a printed copy of a page to the dimensions of whatever screen size you're looking at is your best way to get an idea of how well it will

The Go 10 is 2x as heavy as the Go 7 which for me is a no go. I love that I can pick up the Go 7 and read without the weight ever being an issue. Its about the weight of a cell phone. The Go 10 is the weight of a tablet. That's too heavy for me for long reading sessions. I still use my OLED tablets

I'm an academic. Get something that's large enough to display full page PDFs at a comfortable size. You don't really want to be messing around panning and zooming on eink, given refresh rates. That means one of Boox Note Max (13 inch), Boox Tab XC (13"), or Remarkable Paper Pro (11.8"). Boox devices

If you need color, then the Boox Note Air 5C. Otherwise, the Viwoods AIpaper (for best screen and free AI), the Supernote Manta (for file organization), or the Boox Go 10.3 (similar to the others but a little cheaper.) These are all black and white screen with no light, so you have to use them with

Design-wise, the rM2 takes top spot for me. But I don’t like the glass screen. I’ve kept my rM1 just for that reason. The rMPP is very attractive, but I’m skipping that one. I must say that the Boox Note Max is currently on my radar; similar design to the rM2, but for me a more practical size.
