Well damn I wish I'd heard about this before I got my blink doorbell. Google says they're a part of Anker, which is a brand I really like too. The blink subscription is $15/month and I'm not really impressed with the camera or sound quality.

My apartment is on the second floor, and is an external door. Yes any doorbell camera is waterproof. I have blink with sound. It’s not as good but there’s plenty of cameras you can get that would record with sound. I don’t know exactly about only audio recording though.

My blink doorbell and cameras send me "videos" like this sometimes. Just a few still frames that are spaced out over a long time, sometimes hours. Blink is exceptionally buggy when it comes to the automated recording.

TP-link's Kasa/Tapo system is good too. Doesn't require a subscription (but has the option for it) and allows local recording to an sd card for cams/doorbells. I scrapped my blink system and switched to TP-link. So much better. (And amazon isn't watching me...as much)

Eufy E340 is good when it's hardwired with a powerful supply. Reolink hardwired video doorbell is better though. Apart from some early models had water ingress. Reolink is instant at viewing, notifications are better. Eufy isn't bad, it's miles better than Ring and Blink but it's still not the best.
