this is kinda well known issue with a lot of beyerdynamic headphones, that part of plastic is just absolute garbage material, and on top of that the adjusting length causes some tension on that plastic too, I do get sad too when they cracked on mine beyers :(

The headband thing on the 700 was a design defect that Beyerdynamic found and fixed after about a year of selling the headphones. They haven't fixed anything. Even the new version doesn't last much longer. I'm already on my third replacement headband for my three year old DT900 Pro X.
