[USA - TJ Maxx] Breville Bambino Plus for 80$
Well you saved a ton of money so don’t skimp on a good grinder. It all depends how deep in the rabbit hole you want to go. I have this same machine with Baratza Encore ESP and am happy with it. I use the grinder for everything from espresso to pour over. If you can afford a $5-600 grinder, do you. T

What grinder do you use, why, and how much did it cost?
Baratza encore esp. $160 on prime day a few years ago. Got it cause I'd had the OG non-espresso encore for my morning drip thanks to a wirecutter review, but I'd gotten more into espresso since then. The ESP was a familiar device and in the right price range for someone curious about the espresso wo

If I get my first flat burr grinder will I miss out on ‘body’? (DF54)
I have a DF64 and Baratza Encore ESP. Don't overestimate the impact of the burr type. The beans matter much much more. Never lacked body on the DF if the beans allow it, but I've been missing clarity on the ESP for some beans. Don't overthink it, good beans well dialed in in any of those grinders wi

Flat vs conical burrs research says no one can reliably taste the difference (2013)
I only looked at the study quickly, but unless I misunderstood, the study was limited to a whopping 3 conical grinders and 3 flat-burr grinders. As we know, each grinder and its burrs has its own individual characteristics. Some conicals can be more "flat-burr-like," and some flat-burrs more "conica

Optimal Setting for Baratza ESP Pro
I recently got a Baratza ESP and have found that grind setting 28 works well for my Moccamaster.

My mom wants an espresso machine for her birthday, what’s a good beginner setup for complete newbies? [$300]
I would recommend the v Breville Bambino as well, I have this machine for the past two years it's great. I would absolutely not agree with the smart grinder. The Breville Bambino cannot extract light beans... If this matters to your mom get a machine that works with that. The Bambino excels in mediu

Coffee grinders
For that budget, I’d keep it simple and start with a good dedicated grinder rather than trying to solve everything at once. I’ve been through this jump before, and the Baratza Encore ESP is a nice low-stress pick if you want electric and might ever drift toward espresso. If this is mostly filter cof

How did you guys get into speciality coffee?
I was nudged into this coffee rabbit hole a couple of years back when my wife's friend gifted us a french press since we used to enjoy going out to cafes to basically have a lazy day and work a little while not being occupied in the mundane daily routine that we otherwise went through at home. Used

Pretty decent jump up from a Bambino I'd say...
Im so glad with that grinder, coming from a Baratza Encore ESP, I know now what consistency is lol. I’m going to try Turkish grind with it soon, as I bought Turkish/Greek style roasted beans from Greece. It should be able to handle it according to Eureka.
