I just adopted a cat and the smell is making me reconsider.

I legitimately have no clue what people think when they say pine pellets smell the least. As someone sensitive to smells (cats in particular but I have 4), HELL NO this could not be worse advice lol. My house smelled like a barn (hyperbole, but much worse) when trying pine despite the boxes being in

Affordable & Reliable equipment for HCHO?

I second this--anything but true laboratory testing is going to be unreliable. But to answer your question--any heavy carbon purifier with potassium iodide or potassium permanganate creates a chemical reaction which converts formaldehyde to other chemicals, which are harmless (to most people) or are

Austin Immunity, Bedroom or Healthmate Plus? For VOCs, car exhaust/pollution.

The issue with units from IQAir and Austin is that the amount of carbon makes it so they are pretty underpowered and you’d need multiple units to clean a space efficiently. This review from House Fresh does a good job of explaining. You’d need like three of them for 700 sq ft. I don’t know what you

Asthma gets worse when I spend time at girlfriend's house?

I clean with soap and water or everclear. Austin health mate plus is a great albeit expensive air purifier. And yes houses are preferable. Although houses are certainly not guaranteed to be problem free.

Question about controlling air cleaners via remote plugs

AirFanta 3Pro has a continuous speed knob control that comes on when the power does. The Clean Air Kits Luggable XL has a single speed fan, but it will also come on with the electricity. I would consider getting the adjustable power supply recommended by North Box Systems so you can adjust the speed

Best air purifier for construction dust, smoke, and baby safety?

For commercial purifiers I would check out the Smart Air Blast Mini, Austin Air Healthmate, Coway AP-1512HH, or IQAir HealthPro Plus. AirFanta 3pro I recommended yesterday has a good price-to-performance and noise-to-performance. The other PC Fan type purifiers (NuKit, Clean Air Kits, North Box Syst

best air purifier for odor - what actually works?

okay so i spent way too long researching this same problem last spring and the short version is: most air purifiers marketed for odor are kind of a scam unless they have a substantial activated carbon stage, not just a thin carbon-coated pre-filter. the rabbit hole i went down led me to compare the

My smelly house is driving me insane. I've done everything I can think of, spent over $10k and the place still stinks. What could it be?

Yea it’s an Austin air health mate +. Basically top of the line. I think the only ones better are IQ AIR multi gasses and they’re like $1800

Need Help Choosing The Best Air Purifier For Our Use

Ok, so VOCs are really hard to deal with using consumer purifiers. If you want that, get a bunch of something like the Austin Air HealthMate HM400. It's expensive, larger, louder, and less energy efficient than other options, but it has a lot of active carbon that will help with VOCs. If you are wil

Best Air Purifier for Lead Dust

Max CADR is ~150-155, on full blow your ears out mode. At <45 dB it’s only 77 cfm. https://housefresh.com/austin-air-healthmate/ To be clear- I have 3 Austin airs. I used to love them, and they have served honorably in adsorbing a VOC problem I have, but I originally got them for particulates and I’
