"Living room amp" upgrade for better tone
I have a 30 watt tube amp (the Orange OR30) when I want big sound, but for quieter home practice with plenty of bite and "soundstage", I actually don't use an amp at all. Instead I use the new Easy Listening pedal which I plug into my home stereo speakers (a pair of Audioengine A5+). They sound incr

Anyone ever tried these?
Thanks for the reply. Tubes sound like my kind of audio rabbit hole. All in all it seems a relatively cheap way to get a good change to your sound. I am the type of person who uses a different type of coffee bean every week! So tube rolling sounds like it's for me! Three of my tube pairs were about

Edifier R1855DB + T5: Over 40 Days, Money Lost, and Trust Destroyed (#101306)
Hey man! Funny story. Back then I was recommending people check out Kanto YU6 (and a few others like Audioengine A5+, Fluance Ai81, Vanatoo) as the next step up, but I couldn’t resist and ended up buying the YU6 myself (black). And damn, after getting everything hooked up properly, this 2.1 system w

I nearly cried yesterday i finally “get” what yall talking about
It depends on what you buy and what you like. And they only hiss if your source is noisy. And you have less analytical nearfield speakers too. For the price, I find the Audioengine A5+ to be good. And nobody would spit on a pair of KEF LSXII.

Bedroom Players - Use Studio Monitors!
I have been doing this for a while. I already owned Audioengine A5+ speakers, I plugged them into the output from my Easy Listening pedal. It sounds great.

Choosing speakers for a home turntable
Amir measured those powered speakers, and they were fairly nice: ASR review of Audioengine A5+. Here’s another option with separate components: ELAC Debut 3.0 DB63-BK (EAC review) Fosi Audio V3 (ASR review) with 48V/5A power supply Fosi Audio Box X5 (ASR review) Fluance RT82 Reference But note that

The line between desktop and studio speakers
"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." So you can, say, get AudioEngine A

Audioengine HD6 alternative
I just sold my HD6s two nights ago actually. I replaced them with the ELAC Debut 63s and a WiiM Ultra Amp for an office setup. I have only listened to them for about 20 minutes so far, but I was happy. I started out with Audioengine speakers, the A5+, the HD3s, then HD6s, and loved them all but I do

I was disappointed with the Acoustic Energy AE1 active and I have more respect for the Audioengine A5+.
I've had Audioengine A5+, HD3s, and HD6s. I enjoyed them all, but I just swapped out the HD6s for ELAC B63s + WiiM Ultra Amp, and there is no comparison. I had got the HD6s for $500 on sale, and they're worth that, but not their normal price of $700 when you can get a much better setup for another $
