I have as Asus Zenbook S14 oled. Its a 14 inch laptop but doesn't make any sound when I pick it up like you mentioned. It normally should not. And such thin and light laptops are meant to be used that way - grab and go- due to its lightness.

I have the UX5406sa since 4 months now and it's still great, no regrets. No idea if they can last as long as macbook, but gut feeling is that it should. I think with linux this laptop can easily last 10 years (perhaps changing the battery once).
