Is a VPN Router Worth It?

I have one. It’s fantastic. But I whitelist devices. I don’t want my young kids having VPN access unless I manually turn it on. It was very easy to set up. I have an ASUS RT-AX88U. Just needed to upgrade the firmware to Asuswrt-Merlin. I don’t remember all the steps, but it was one of those things w

Best WiFi 6 router right now for a busy household?

there is currently no need for wifi 7 other than better range in some settings. wifi 6 is plenty of fast enough. I have the RT-AX88U pro and 800mbs+ per wireless client is a bigger pipe than most can use comsidering 4k only uses 35 mbs and most servers cap downloads shy of 800mbs.

Router recommendation

First question— do any of your devices even have WiFi 7 capability? At 600mbps, 1100 sqft, and your gaming devices hardwired, I would say something like a Glinet flint 2, or even Asus RT AX88u Pro for the 2.5gbps ports for future needs.

Home networking with 60+ IOT Devices?

The RT-AX88U Pro is powerful, but your unmanaged switch and mesh might be the culprit. The switch might drop the tags so the mesh node doesn't know which device belongs to which network. Test connecting the TUF directly to a LAN port of the AC88U: if it stabalizes it confirms this theory. Set the 2.

How did you setup your WiFi?

Your router, the ASUS RT-AX88U, is a good router to begin with. I use a TP Link Mesh system that's linked via Ethernet, which also works well, so the QOS in my case didn't make a noticeable difference, and right now I have about 25 concurrent devices cause my family is over and remote play and strea

Help choosing a router for upgraded internet

I've been reading about the RT-BE92U, and from what I've read I don't think that I'd go that way. Too many firmware problems. Yes, I'd have to say that the GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U is a better option than the RT-BE92U. If I was going to go for wifi 7, I'd go for the RT-BE96U, as I said before. Must be

Should I buy the ASUS RT-BE88u an almost 2 year old router and join it with my RT-AX92U routers?

I have an ASUS RT-AX88U that we bought several years ago and it's been rock solid. Not even using third party firmware. Practically no issues whatsoever. All of these negative ASUS reviews? I have a theory. ASUS enables DFS channels and 160mhz wide channel on 5ghz by default. If you live near an air

Splitting wifi bands

Splitting the bands is honestly your safest bet here, especially with a busy household. Bell’s Gigahub 2.0 can handle a lot, but when 10+ devices fight for 5 & 6GHz, even Bell can’t work miracles—unlike Rogers, whose routers seem allergic to multiple connections. Keep an eye on which devices hog ban

Fixed Slow Fios Upload Speeds

The Verizon Fios ONTs have a weird issue with ASUS routers and other brands on the upload side. Such as the Nokia G-211M-C ONT model. I have the RT-AX88U Pro too. You can fix the issue by doing this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/s/2xsB9p4TyE Alternatively, you can fix the issue by connecting a swit

can't get app connected to Aiden

I was finally able to solve this. I noticed that even though pairing in the app failed with the "Incorrect password" message, the wifi info shown on the device (SSID, IP address) showed a correct IP address for the router’s LAN subnet, indicating that at a minimum, DHCP negotiation had completed suc
