Is a VPN Router Worth It?
I have one. It’s fantastic. But I whitelist devices. I don’t want my young kids having VPN access unless I manually turn it on. It was very easy to set up. I have an ASUS RT-AX88U. Just needed to upgrade the firmware to Asuswrt-Merlin. I don’t remember all the steps, but it was one of those things w

Should I buy the ASUS RT-BE88u an almost 2 year old router and join it with my RT-AX92U routers?
I have an ASUS RT-AX88U that we bought several years ago and it's been rock solid. Not even using third party firmware. Practically no issues whatsoever. All of these negative ASUS reviews? I have a theory. ASUS enables DFS channels and 160mhz wide channel on 5ghz by default. If you live near an air

What are you using for home router and infrastructure?
Currently using an Asus RT-AX88U Pro with the Merlin firmware. I do have a MikroTik router I'd like to move towards as my edge router with the Asus just providing wifi, but the Asus offers so many builtin services that it's tough to migrate over at the moment.

Why can't I get better WiFi speeds on 800 Mbps internet
I have a 500/500Mb fiber internet connection, though my speeds test at over 600Mb in both directions. I have Wi-fi 6 Access Points. I get around 400Mbps over Wi-fi see on my new iPhone Pro ,which can also support Wi-fi 6E and Wi-fi 7. I really don't see a need for any faster speed than that. it's mu

Pihole getting barely any queries
I don't think this is right.. I have mine set just like this but without 8.8.8.8. and I get thousands of queries and ads are blocked properly. Just double checked and my DHCP Server DNS is blank. Router is an RT-AX88U, but otherwise it's the same. Removing the IP from the WAN DNS settings, or turnin

Xfinity gateway: change DNS settings?
You can’t. Bridge the Xfinity gateway, buy a 3rd party router (e.g. Asus RT-AX88U pro), change your DNS and take full control of your network, and never look back.

Internet network in Irish block build house
I have vodafone so I just set their modem to bridge mode and connected the Asus RT-AX88U router to it. Then it's a piece of piss to add the mesh nodes. I dont have them hard wired to the router.

Home upgrade
So myself have been on ASUS Routers for years, at least 10 years, upgraded to the RT-AX88U about 4 years ago, but I just finally switch to a UniFi Dream Router 7, added two Flex 2.5 5 switches and a Flex 25 8 switch.I will say it has been a big learning curve, but I am kinda liking my new network.Th

Opinion on home network solutions
As others have stated first test Teams with a wired Ethernet connection. If that works it could be a WiFi or MESH issue. From what I have read Frontier fiber supports ipv4 but not ipv6. Not sure of the distance between your laptop and closest MESH node. I prefer 3 band MESH configurations where one
