4K will be much more affordable, but the sharpness of 5K for desktop applications is really great. I have the XG27JCG. In Windows, I set the scaling to 150% for more real estate. UI is rather small but definitely readable because everything’s so sharp. According to my calculations at 175% the UI is

You could consider the ASUS PA27JCV. 5k monitor that's about half the price. I wouldn't say it's better though, unless you like its matte coating.

Yeah completely agree - what I don't get is why there is such a "premium" for 6k monitors - for instance I see the upcoming PA32QCV as simply 4.5" of additional (5K) screen size yet the monitor will be nearly twice as expensive as the PA27JCV. I guess I am probably missing other benefits. The Samsun
