Check out the Asus ProArt PA27JCV, a 5K HDR panel with a pixel density of 218 ppi, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C, and excellent color calibration. For €700. To say that text is sharp on a 4K screen would be a lie; this resolution isn't native on Macs, unlike 5K.

The Dell is probably the best option for your use case, but in your position I’d look at either the BenQ MA270U, it’s designed specifically to color manage and be controlled by macOS similar to an Apple display, or the Asus ProArt 5K monitor (PA27JCV) which will provide a native 218 PPI for macOS. 5k is fantastic with my Mac, but to be honest I don't notice the difference with 4k for anything but the UI elements. I have the Asus PA27JCV. Great colour, decent matte finish. Backlight bleed is acceptable. Connectivity options are lacking. I use Windows at work. Have a 32" 4k Samsung. It's fine.

Love my asus proart 5k pa27jcv. It’s perfect for my setup. Terrible sound, incredible image quality, matte cover, a bit brighter than typical display. Type-C connection for iPad/MacBook, additional ports. Mostly perfect for work, but not that good for gaming

I bought it in March 2025 (in one of the Polish local stores). I do research before it was available checking site like https://www.displayninja.com for incoming 5K panels and then waiting for 5K monitor with KVM (I need it to switch between two computers). Apple's studio doesn't have KVM. ASUS was

I have the Apple Studio Display (and it’s great). However, this is a better value: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1850479-REG/asus_pa27jcv_27_proart_5k_usb_c.html The higher DPI will definitely make a difference. The biggest reason is your Mac won’t have to do any weird scaling on a 5K display. Te

The 5K is probably a better option as long as it's a newer one like the PA27JCV that supports DP 1.4 and doesn't require MST, which KDE doesn't support. I actually have two of the U2725QE now. I don't use KDE with them because I still have a number of applications, mostly Java-based because I'm a so

I have dell u2723qx which is one of the first few ips black monitor. And hands down i love it. I used to pair it with lg 27gn950, but since I wanna try for glossy monitor and higher pixel density, i bought 2 24md4kl ultrafine 24 inch. After about 2 years with this setup switching between mac and win

ASUS has a 27” 5K ProArt (PA27JCV) for around $850. That would probably be your best bang for buck if you want a usable 2560x1600 effective desktop. The problem with 4K monitors is that they effectively become a 1080p desktops with default 2x Retina scaling. The ASUS will send a DisplayPort signal f
