Yes happened to me too. Very annoying my portafilter got stuck as well. Happened a lot on my ascaso dream. Using a puck screen or lower dosage seem to solve it.

PID vs non-PID real world experiences? How much does it matter?
When the difference between the two is $600 (Dream One vs Dream PID), then it becomes a real question. A (long) review of the Ascaso Dream PID
Late reply but It's a really good machine. Only downsides are taking long to heat up for steam. Drip tray is small and the discharge pipe that ypu habe to move back and forth when emptying the drip tray. Also price is crazy, for that price you'll get a dual boiler Lelit Elizabeth. So only reason to

Upgrade from Rancilio Siliva V5 to Ascaso Steel Duo PID V1 / Profitec GO [~400 €]
I would argue against Ascaso. I have Dream Pid and Duo Steel Pid and both machines are very flimsy. Duo has very quirky steam and Dream is very weak if the puck in't prepped good enough.
