Buy an espresso machine that's 5K or save up for a better one in the future?
This is the one advice, OP, that you should take to heart. Start with a good grinder, grind your beans fresh. Tapos kahit entry level espresso machine, like say a Delonghi Dedica, Ascaso Dream, or a Bambino Plus, okay na yun. Makakapag produce na yun ng good enough espresso kung maganda na yung grin

Should I try to repair it by myself or rather directly to professionals ?
can’t make a decision for your but i’ve had really good luck working on my Ascaso Dream from 2015. parts availability is great, and the machines are fairly easy to work on for novices. it’s unlikely you’ll make anything worse by popping it open and at least having a look.

Woohoo... ES1 Delivered.
It’s been perfect for me. I switched from an Ascaso Dream PID to the ES1 and it feels like a huge upgrade. I’ve had the Niche for a few years and it’s great. Super easy to dial in grinds and the 58mm sized grind cup simplifies everything. Might not be the best if you also do drip or pour over but gr
