Apple CEO Tim Cook says late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs gave him this unforgettable advice before handing over the reins as CEO: "Never ask what I would do"

I’d argue there was more of a noticeable change when Ive left, than Jobs. Without Jobs, Apple continued as usual with a different style of keynotes. When Ive left, Apple's ENTIRE design language and philosophy changed almost overnight. Their products went from luxury museum pieces that traded off fe

Anyone try MacOS - and come back to Windows?

I use macOS, Windows, and a variety of Linux distros, sometimes on bare metal or in a VM. I really enjoy the integration of the Apple ecosystem and the battery life-to-performance ratio of my MacBook Pro M1 Max. When it comes to gaming or certain software products, I use my Windows desktop. The vari

[Quartz] Yes it's a Mac, I'm an iOS Dev

Folks love to hate on macOS, but you know what? It fucking works. I love Linux, and I run Fedora on all my non-Apple machines as much as I can (I still have to use Windows on my work laptop and in a VM at home for compatibility reasons). But my MacBook Pro M2 is literally the most reliable computer

Got my 16" M5 Pro yesterday. The performance is insane but the charger situation is dumb.

The peak power draw from the Macbook Pro M5 Pro actually exceeds 140W according to this website. So the power brick having to dedicate the entire 140W output to a single port is not really dumb, but more of a necessity. From the manufacturer's perspective, the power brick that is supplied with the p

An appreciation

I think you cannot truly appreciate modern Macs until you try apple silicon. If you liked an Intel Mac, the apple silicon variants are significantly faster, quieter, cooler, with insane battery life. The best 16" intel MacBook Pro was basically overshadowed by the cheapest M1 MacBook Air. That is ho

OH MY GOD I CAN NOT BELIVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED

It can happen, all the same as a car deciding to die in traffic for example. We all can't see the future unfortunately, and we all cant have the cutting edge new stuff. When I was in college for my associates (in-person), my MacBook Pro 2015 randomly decided to shutdown during class. Prior to that i

Why does a Windows laptop feel slower than a MacBook.. even when both have the same RAM?

Here a sample of games, watch the videos on YouTube. Fun fact apple can maintain these performances on battery only while windows laptops that aren't plugged in will see a throttling of performance due to the wattage needed to run the cpu and GPU at full power which can't be pulled via the battery a

Sigh...Hate to say this but i am so close to getting Macbook

I agree. For all my personal stuff, I use MacOS. For the office, Windows, since I consider most Windows computers to be disposable assets. I think that’s the main difference — Windows: junk worthy. Apple: valuable junk. I like my Apple computers to last many years — and they do. My office converted

Running QGIS on Mac

Yes. I’ve tried it with M1 Max (MacBook Pro) and M2 (MacBook Air). Runs beautifully on both. To be honest, even a MacBook Air would suffice unless you are doing something super complex. Apple really performed a miracle with their custom silicon.
