Insane how much better of a deal MacBook Air got in the last 6 months. M3 --> M4 8GB base --> 16GB base $1,100 --> $1,000 If you have EDU, it's $899. This, along with the Mac Mini, are the best deals in personal computers in my opinion. Typing this on an M4 Mac Mini that I got for $550 total.

My M1 MacBook Air says hi. Everyone told me the same thing lol... Don't buy first get Apple Silicon, there will be growing pains. My only growing pain is not being able to justify buying an M4 machine now because M1 is just that good.

When I go back to using my 11" 2012 MacBook Air the software: mostly Finder and the settings app. Makes me nostalgic. And it's running Catalina- not that old! It still has more then enough omph to get me through all my basic computing needs. (Also have an M4 Mini) Apple needs to rework its software

Honestly, this looks like a pretty good release. base model CPU gets two more efficiency cores (in addition to architectural benefits from M3 to M4) base 16GB memory with slightly higher bandwidth (120GB/s vs 100GB/s) Thunderbolt 4 instead of 3 dual 6K external display support with internal display
