Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry
Stick the Kindle in "Airplane mode", and just manually upload your books. Been doing it that way for years, as it also prevents Amazon removing purchased books form your device when they remove them from the store.

Amazon thanks loyal Kindle devotees by bricking their kit
They're not exactly bricking them (at least not unless you reset the device), they're blocking any ability to use the Amazon store. As long as you can live without the store and read existing titles, your Kindle will be still usable.

What’s one piece of technology you aren’t fond of but everyone else is?
...But some old school part of me just hates Kindles. I also use to hate ebook readers with an "old school passion". Then I got one. The convenience of essentially having a library I can carry round with me was just too seductive. (I had a Kindle for several years, but then got fed up with the changes

My Kindle is an ad filled wasteland and I regret buying it.
TL;DR: OP’s problems are user error It’s a very bad and misleading summary because OP is purposefully clicking on the home page, which they would never have to see otherwise. The purpose of that page is literally to explore ads for new books that you might like. For example, it currently shows me ni

Starting in May, pre-2013 Kindles won't be able to buy or download new books
Yes, and if you're worried about Amazon ever completely locking down your device in the future with a software update, just put your device in airplane mode and leave it there. Besides saving power, it prevents software updates. You don't really need them if you use Calibre to put books on your Kind

Why can’t non-verbal autistics talk?
I'm ADHD, autistic, and have a ton of other health issues. I could speak by age 2 and started reading in a headstart program between 2-4. I have a series of medical conditions that affect my muscles. I physically can't speak when I'm stressed or excited because I lose a good amount of control over m

X4 Converter Update - Multi-file support, Arabic, Hyphenation & more
I hope the XTeink team has reached out to you, because your converter is genuinely game changing for their efforts to break into the international market. They would do well to recognize it and support development of this tool. (If they’re reading this: you should send this person an X3 to help them

Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry
Best solution to this problem, by far in my experience. It's a little less convenient, but airplane mode + Calibre + USB cable is the way to go. I haven't used the Amazon store in years for e-Books, but my Kindle still works.

The context of He Who Fights With Monsters book one
I had never even heard of litRPG before. Hoopla, a library app, allows card holders to download 5 books in a month. The last week of the month, they take a random selection of books and make them "free" as in not counting against the limit. In August, it was mostly fantasy books. I downloaded all of

A niche E ink DAP eReader review - the Hisense Touch Lite
Until recently, I’ve been using the Hiby m300 - a device that was technically functional, but I was not super enthused by. I’ve also been using a Kindle for more than 15 years now, and I’m an avid E ink fan. When I realized I wanted to replace both devices, it seemed only natural to look for somethi
