Bigger Monitors vs. Adding a Sub
Room treatment aside (it is the first answer), in my experience if you’re going to add a sub you’re better off keeping the smaller monitors. My friend and I did a shootout years ago using a pair of Yamaha HS5’s with the HS8S sub, and a pair of HS8’s with the HS8S. I found it much easier to nail the

Speaker impedance confusion 10k ohm speakers with 4ohm amp
No, your proposed 20w amp is NOT underpowered for the Yamaha speakers. It is grossly OVERpowered, because you are feeding that 20w signal into the Yamaha amplifier, which should have an input of only a small fraction of a watt. The impedance listed for the HS8 is the input impedance of the internal

Do you have any ideas for a better piano bench and better organization?
These are the Adam Audio A7V, a bit pricey but perfect for me. I find the low end just right – not too much, not too little. Previously had the Yamaha HS8, but they were too bass-heavy for my apartment which is also completely untreated 😄

FINALLY fixed the drums! How does it sound now?
i mean its definitely subjective and depends what you are used to, but i was never able to do a clean mix (trap beats) with monitors. I had Yamaha HS8 (and HS6 later), and the low frequencies just sounds different based on how far you sit from the monitors. :) for me, the headphones are way more "pr

Hardware you simply can't do without?
Sure, I used to use a pair of Mackie HR824 MK1's as my main monitors for years as I knew them very well, they sounded great and have a great low end. I would almost always get the low end right on my first mix but the mid range didn't always translate well to other sources. It took more work then it

Anyone own both a Yamaha P525 and a CP88? Looking for advice.
Thank you for the response. Yeah, i'm not gigging with it. I know logically I should go P525 and VST setup. I've got HS8 stereo monitors. It is so goddamn ugly though. I mean it's honestly ugly enough that it's a factor in a $1300 decision. I truly hate Yamahas. Can I ask another question? I'm new t

Small speakers vs Big speakers
From a loudspeaker design and performance standpoint, it is much easier to get a small speaker to tick the boxes (on and off axis performance, woofer/tweeter integration, and etc.) what is hard to achieve with small speakers is the subjective “wow” factor that can really only come from a large displ

You can safely ignore all of that — probably the typical YouTube pedagogy being awful and getting parroted. Buy one set of the best monitors you can afford. Look at your space and determine if near field or midfield are your best option (since I doubt you're in a space where far field monitors will

What do you listen to your bounces on in your computer?
I guess mine usually goes into my dropbox immediately, and I play it on my wireless bose ear buds, where I listen to most of my music, while I go to my truck where I’ll put it on in there. I have a pair of old crummy desktop speakers from 20-25 years ago that I stole from my mom when she got rid of

Audio So Quiet That The Game Is Unplayable?
I thought that at first because I have changed headsets since the last wipe, but even on my studio monitors (Yamaha HS8's) the audio is at like 5% what it should be, literally no other program on my PC is having this issue
