What monitors are you rocking and do you rate them?

I have a small space for my setup and i tested several monitors. I ended up with the yamaha HS8. They are affordable amd they work for me for electronic music

It's All a Matter of Perspective

Audiophiles are the worst. “I just want to hear it the way the artist intended.” Go buy some Yamaha HS8’s and a decent dac, done. That’s what they probably referenced them through.

Listening at home 🔊

A pair of Yamaha HS8’s about 2ft from each ear, and not even loud, just normal listening level they’re so so good.

Studio monitors sound thin compared to headphones

Two things; headphones are never going to be as flat as monitors can be and will always have some form of hyped bass, and the monitors you have struggle with what you're trying to do. HS4's only go down to 83hz, so you're missing all the frequencies in the sub range. Secondly, they're a tiny driver,

What’s a mixing habit in Ableton you had to unlearn to finally get better results?

Do you think there’s value in spaces dedicated to listening to full albums or private listening rooms?

I think most people who would be willing to pay for it are also willing to pay for a good setup at home. I absolutely love kicking back and listening to a full album at home. I have a pair of Yamaha HS8 speakers with the matching subwoofer and it sounds pretty dang good for not a crazy expense. I'd

Best digital piano for returning to the keys after 20 years

So you want something that looks like a piece of furniture, or are you fine with a slab? If you get a slab ( I think the Yamaha P525 will be comfortable for you) be sure to get some monitor loudspeakers, and not small ones. If you want to experience what you did with your acoustic pianos, as far as

Studio monitors sound thin compared to headphones

Original ones, yes. Mark II models, stay away from. I used to be the Mackie service agent for the state and the modern stuff is utter garbage, top to bottom. Stay away from KRK Rockit models too as they all succumb to failure due to corrosive glue, and poor thermal management. Yamaha HS7/HS8, Mackie
