I've Been wasting my years buying the wrong gears

Welcome to the analog fun times mate. I was similar, although running KT88s, and really it’s the best I've had it. I use to firmly believe you need the highest power you can afford, but now 25W on Triode and 45W on UL is actually more than enough with my Wharfedale Super Lintons. I never even touch

PSA: KEF R5 Metas are on sale, around 3K a pair

That’s about what I paid when they went on sale in March pre-tariffs. They are great speakers for 2 channel listening and definitely good value at that $1500/speaker. I chose these over the Wharfedale super lintons due to their better clarity and sharpness.

Chinese, American, and British speakers

Triangle has some interesting options at that price. Comète 40th come to mind. Wharfedale is amazing - start with Lintons.

Need some speaker recommendations for my budget

Personally, I really like the JBL HDI line if you can find some. There's also the classic recommendations like Wharfedale Linton/Super Linton, MoFi sourcepoint 10 or towers, KEF R3, etc . Klipsch, BW, Martin Logan, etc. are usually too bright for my taste but some people still like them. Also, is it

Is there a price/investment limit for a HiFi system after which there is no significant improvement in sound?

I just swapped my Paradigm Premier 800F for a set of Wharfedale Super Lintons. This is my first set of non-Paradigm speakers I have bought in the last 20 years. So far the Super Lintons do not disappoint but in terms of quality for cost the Paradigm Premier 800F are hard to beat.

1-1.5k budget for speakers. Pairing with Technics SE-A70 & McIntosh MX-114

Ascilabs c6b, Wharfedale Linton (a little more than $1500 these days, but you could get used or wait for a sale price), Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 v2. The Wharfedales are a little on the warm side of neutral. The other two are pretty neutral.
