Most cheapest best possible setup for listening to jazz?
Wharfedale Linton's play jazz fantastically. They also so much look the part. Not sure what your amp situation looks like but they did great with a Cambridge AXR85. And sound absolutely amazing with a Marantz 40n. They aren't fussy but definitely level up with better amplification.

First HiFi setup for electronic music (Techno/House) – €1.000–1.500, open-plan attic, Germany
Wharfedale Lintons will fill that room and sound great to me. They're easy to drive so you don't need to go crazy with the amp. You could get a hypex power amp from audiophonics and never need more power. A little over budget new for the speakers but you should buy used. The amps are about 500 euro

Upgraded my system after 15 years, and I’m not impressed.
I went through a similar situation. Went from an 1980’s Pioneer SX3700 to a Yamaha S701. I love the Pioneer but it needs to be serviced as it’s over 40 years old. At first, I really disliked the Yamaha . Going from a retro Class A amp rated at 35 watts per channel to a 100 watts per channel Class AB

New Speakers for the Yamaha A-S801
I currently have this amp and run both the KEF Q950s and JBL l100 MKIIs. Love running two sets of speakers with the A/B zones. I've also had a pair of Wharfedale Super Lintons that I think would pair nicely and in your budget.

Any thoughts on the Arcam a5+ ?
I have this amp paired with the Wharfedale Linton 85ths and it's a great combo. The onboard DAC is fine, but I use the SMSL RAW-MDA1 instead. I don't care for Bluetooth. I haven't tried the phono section yet, since I use a Rega Fono MM MK5 paired with an AT-VM95ML.

Speakers for home theater versus music
This is good info, esp with regard to speaker efficiency and AVR power. I’d recommend you get the best speakers you can afford that are 90dB sensitivity or higher. I’ve used Lintons with my Anthem MRX-540 AVR and I never went above 40% on volume using a Wharfedale Evo 5.C center channel and a REL Cl

advice on first system
We are running a Marantz 40n into Linton 85s and it's a great "listen all day" system. When I went to test drive speakers in store I was certain I was getting KEF R3s. Walked out with the Wharfedale's and haven't second guessed myself once. They sound absolutely amazing on the Marantz.

Speaker pairing question
KLH 5s or Wharfedale Lintons would work well.

New sound system
i've found the Wharfedale Lintons are a great speaker for this kind of music. Warm and non-fatiguing, and work well with less-than-stellar recordings
