I really wanted this to work.

I had issue with not picking up some channels, ABC and CBS with the white-flat antenna that came with the tablotv gen-4. I switched to a rabbit ear antenna, which was able to pick up ABC and CBS but it was inconsistent. I swapped the rabbit year with an outdoor antenna which I hang indoors on a wind

What the heck is this?

I meant manufacturer warranty from Western Digital. I've claimed warranty for WD My Passport multiple times. Unfortunately this external HDD sucks. 2025 and there are still people buying too cheap to be true tech stuff from unknown sellers. OP is even more special because it took half a year to figu

where all 2.5 CMR gone?

Yes, but they're awfully annoying to obtain in a useful interface. WD uses them in their My Passport series, but those drives have the USB interface soldered to the PCB. Seagate offers ST5000LM000 - which is 5TB, but also SMR. I'm not sure if they offer a 6TB solution, and their website doesn't seem

YAR HAR FIDDLE DEE DEE

as a fellow human, even good external hard drives don't last that long, we had ones with vents and external outlets and they're all gone. We managed to save a couple from the good old days that don't require external outlets to work and they're slower but still OK (anything that promotes speed or su

wd my passport ultra 5tb mounts, reads, but glacially slow

WD My Passport 3TB, 4TB, 5TB & 6TB have been the #1 drive we have been getting in for Data Recovery lately. They may soon replace the Seagate Rosewood as the worst drive ever made. Your drive is just going to get worse and worse until it stops then you will need PC3000 ($20K) to fix. Try to copy you

Best external HDD for Mac

All drives fail. I've personally had better luck with Seagate than with WD, but all drives fail. ALWAYS store files you care about in at least two places. ALWAYS make a backup. My Passport Ultra for Mac is exactly the same as the regular My Passport Ultra. It's just formatted for MacOS (HFS+ or APFS

WD hard drive shows no files if MacBook Pro sleeps

You haven't mentioned which macOS your MBP is running. If you're running Tahoe, did you have this problem with the My Passport when running Sequoia? OS aside, I've read things over the years that suggest the My Passports from WD are inconsistent in quality. The problems seem to be more in the higher

I have a few storage related inquiries if you don't mind.

I don't bother with any HDDs smaller than 16TB. Except possibly very old drives for extra cold storage disconnected and half forgotten. The reson is that <= 8TB often is SMR and because drive bays are expensive. Yes. There is a lot of progress. Drives getting bigger. Different encoding and so on. Ye
