So true. First one I got was in 2016, a Garmin NuviCam LMTHD. I balked at it initially as it was $520. In March 2017, I was reversed into and without the dash cam, my insurance would have gone up a lot more than $500 over the span. Well worth the price at the time. It’s hard driving now without one.

If you get the VIOFO A329S you can add an optional external SSD drive and hide that under the dashboard in the glove box for stealth storage. That way the video footage is still safe even if they take the dashcam.

Viofo A229 Pro seems to be the most recommended here. The A329S is newer, but more expensive. The sensor is the same, but it has USB-C external storage capability. viofo A329S. It's a good one so far, records to a remote SSD buried in the dash and stores a few weeks of video. Handles front and rear cams at the same time.

I like my viofo a329s 2ch. Very good image quality, supports external storage, and has good parking mode support. Definitely hardwire it.
