Thank you OP for posting this. Hope it helps someone. Of note, I recently upgraded to a Viofo A229 Plus dashcam, and that thing has fantastic resolution. It has gotten more expensive because of tariffs, but in my opinion, still worth it. I got the rear dash cam as well.

To anyone reading this: Get a dashcam. Viofo A229 is good but almost any will do. Practice using it. Learn how to download footage off the camera. Make sure you have uninsured motorists coverage for both bodily injury and property damage. Wear a seatbelt and don’t speed. Good luck out there.

Viofo A229. Comes with a rear cam too. I'm very happy with it after two Garmin Minis crapped out on me.

Viofo A229 plus, they also make a 229 pro. I have this exact same dash cam. Excellent video, front and rear cameras, WiFi connectivity with your phone. My original Viofo was the A119 v3, I put it in my Wife’s car. Eventually I will upgrade the A119 to the A229 plus.

Funny u say that cuz a few weeks after I got my Viofo A229 some lady side swiped me then kept driving... caught her in 4k so gave the cops the video of her hitting me. She got improper lane change

I installed a Viofo a229 plus pretty much day one. Ive got the hardwire kit so its recording when parked and engine off without the fear of it killing the battery. (It auto shuts down if it reads battery voltage too low)

Absolutely love it. VIOFO A229 Plus. Got it from Amazon for $130 if I remember correctly. Great quality even in low light as you can see and also has parking mode.
