When they tell their insurance they had a green light but you got the video
Get one. It's peace of mind. I have a Viofo A229+ and it's fantastic.

get a dashcam or this could be you next
And get something that uses a (super-)capacitor as opposed to a battery - the former holds up to extended periods of high temps. This used to be a much bigger issue ~10 years ago, but it's still good to check and make sure Don't forget a high-endurance SD card. Not the run-of-the-mill cards As far a

Eyesight and backup cam as dash cameras
I remember someone saying how much of a legal logistical nightmare it would be to have built in cameras function as dash cams which made a lot of sense to me. So short answer no the programming wouldn't allow it and you can't really "hack" eyesight systems in a way that would allow this. I have viof

Two red light runners receive a double dose of instant karma
Viofo A229. Comes with a rear cam too. I'm very happy with it after two Garmin Minis crapped out on me.

i commute on 280….dashcam reccomendations?
My fiance has a super long commute so she wanted a dashcam. I ended up getting a Viofo A229 Plus for her. I wanted something that had good video quality and also a rear camera. I installed everything myself. Between the instructions and YouTube videos it wasn't too bad. We've had to use it for one a

My first car
VIOFO seems to be top of the market right now. I have an A229+ and it was a breeze to install, works fabulously, and has caught lots of things.

What dashcams do you use?
Viofo a229 pro. Has been in my BRZ tS for 1.5 years with no issue. I’ve also used a Viofo a119 before (passed it on but still working nearly 8 years later) and have a Rexxing V1 in my daily. I’ve never had much issue with Viofo or Rexxing so far.

I got hit for the second time... at the same intersection
If you can, get one that uses a super capacitor - they do much better in terms of performing properly in high temps. I have a VIOFO a229 plus, because I wanted a rear camera. Previously had a front only VIOFO a129, which was good too. Get a decent sized memory card, and then try to get in the habit

any suggestions for “sentry mode” solution?
Get a 2-channel dash cam like the Viofo A229 Plus/Pro/Ultra and get an external dash cam battery hardwired. You’ll get 12~ or more hours of parking mode recording depending on the size of battery. I have a setup like this on my GLC43 and works really well.
