I used a dongar adapter with a Viofo A119. The rearview power it taps into is only on when the car is on so there's no risk of vampiring your battery, and the cord only needs to run a few inches so it's an easy clean install.

Second the Viofo, I have the A119M Pro just in front of the mirror on the drivers side and have tucked cable though the plastic housing behind the rear view mirror then across the headliner and down the B pillar and door weather stripping then behind the glove box door to the 12V adaptor.

Not a G80 but what I did was I stuffed the wire from my A119 Viofo and ran it in the upper ceiling trim, tucked behind the right side A-pillar then under under the passenger foot well and up into the USB port on my center console. Never used that specific USB port and it works like a charm :)

Yeah that port was such a pleasant surprise! And to those that have issues with their cams I can confirm it works with the VIOFO A119 V3 (usb C to mini usb) and the A119 mini 2 (usb C to usb C).

I looked at the Fitcam but my mirror hood is different and it wouldn't fit. Bummer. So I ended up buying a FitDVR Power Adapter... (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DHX9YKMT) and a Viofo A119 V3. Both on Black Friday discounts. The FitDVR is soo nice and makes installation so much easier and neater.
