What router is everyone using?

I’m using a UniFi Dream Machine Pro, it’s about 5 years old but it’s a total beast, but it wasn’t cheap. I wanted something that was part of ecosystem with separate Wi-Fi access points.

New Construction and new user looking for some thoughts...

The RPS is pretty close to worthless. It is neither a UPS nor power conditioner. Even with a whole home backup generator you still need a UPS to bridge the gap on the transfer time, and it’s best if the UPS is a pure sine wave output to condition the output from the generator (so the Unifi actual UP

What else do I need?

You can keep UDM or UDR, depending on your use case. But UDR can not be integrated in a UDM setting as an Accesspoint. Both devices are capable of managing your whole UniFi Setup (accesspoints, Switches, Cameras), including IDS/IPS. UDR has 1 PoE Port, so if you need more than one additional AP you

unifi or not to unifi

ngl for 6700sqft retail you're on the right track. i'd swap the G6 APs for U6 Pros or U7 Pros - better value and plenty for retail traffic. the Dream Machine + separate NVR adds cost; you could start with a UDM Pro or SE which has built-in NVR for up to 12 cameras. 29 cameras total is a lot for a re

UDM-Pro vs UCG-F

UCG-Fiber all the way for residential. And it’s really good for small business environments. I am starting to put it in new buildings my company opens. The only downside is I need to take advantage of Fabric Identify. And that can only be hosted on the UDM Pro series in the environment. So I have to

Should I switch?

Only you can decide if it is worth the switch on price alone. There have been hiccups with getting QF service installed, but, you might actually have fewer problem since you don't have to cancel Cox service until the QF service is actually up and running. Most having problems came from Century Link

Lots of issues with USW-Aggregation with SFP+ adapters.

What happens if you remove 1 SFP+? I believe that 4 is the limit of how many SFP+ to RJ45 modules you can use. Maybe those other two that are Ubiquiti compatible run hotter or demand more power than the switch can handle. Switch all possible connections to DAC (UDM and USW-Enterprise) P.S. Don’t upd

Every few years we upgrade our hardware firewall with the newest model. And every time I have to reposition the mounting screws.

Sonicwalls are notorious for flawed updates and constant emergency security patches. If you want something that works, and is easy to manage, I would recommend a unifi dream machine. Get the SE if you want to plug unifi WiFi access points or cameras directly into it or just use the remaining ports a

What switch to purchase?

the pro max 24 is a solid pick for handling 3 gig. quantum's ont usually has a 10g rj45 port, so you’ll connect that to the switch's 10g sfp+ port using a copper module. if you go with the poe version you’re set for cameras later. the Ubiquiti UF-RJ45-10G is what i used to connect my fiber ont to my

Dream Machine SE WAN issues

yeah that’s a known quirk on some udm se units - the rj45 wan port can act up. since the sfp port is working fine for you, you’re good. if you want to keep that port free for a future fiber link, a durable sfp module is the way to go. the Ubiquiti UF-RJ45-10G module works perfectly in the sfp port f
