What are some good WiFi 6 routers at the moment?

Ubiquiti makes some of the best networking gear for consumers/prosumers. Check out the Unifi Express 7 and Dream Router 7. They have a very reasonably priced ecosystem that is easy to manage with great performance.

Hey /r/Sysadmin! What do you use for your home router? 2026 Edition

The Ubiquity network console is awesome. The WifiMan VPN works flawlessley. The Dream Machine Pro doesn't have wifi, and I didn't realize at the time of purchase that it doesn't have PoE which is a bit annoying for a gateway at this price point so I have a separate injector to run the wireless acces

Possible Orbi RBR50 issues. Considering upgrading.

If I were experiencing this issue now-a-days, I would try out a UniFi setup consisting of(i) A UDR7 (Dream Router 7) as a base-station (Cloud Gateway) (ii) A UniFi Express 7 as a mesh node This guy has a good video on how to set something like this up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nr0tzmX8AOk The

Which Access Points is everyone using with BGW-320?

If you have the budget, it's best to put the BGW device in IP Passthrough (aka "bypass" mode), buy your own router + wireless APs, and go from there. I like Ubiquiti products & have a Dream Router 7. No need for APs/extenders, since my house is pathetically tiny. If you're interested in learning mor

Would absolutely appreciate some help for building my first home network

How fast is (or will be) your internet service from the ISP? Are you comfortable running ethernet to the mounting locations for wifi access points and cameras? (Once you're in the house.) How many cameras and how much storage retention would you like to have? For starters, you'll need a gateway/rout

Prosumer wifi router recommendations?

UniFi, hands down. I don't know what you consider "similar nonsense", - prosumer and a lot of business will use a controller that manages the configurations and statistics. The Cloud Key is a somewhat older implementation of the UniFi setup where it performed as the controller and an NVR for cameras

Your router is 5 years old. Is it a security ticking time bomb or just a paperweight?

This is why I stick to Ubiquiti devices, even for home use situations. There is real commitment to software and security updates for extended periods of time. Additionally, Unifi Software/App/Web Interface provides such a granular degree of control that it makes protecting home networks a fairly sim

Is this a good deal or a doo doo deal?

The wifi and CPU performance is solid. It is cheap due to the lack of high-end features and also the lack of ecosystem support. For example, a Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 can act as a network controller, video recorder, and has an SFP+ port. https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/cloud-gateways-wifi-integr

Finally ditched my regular router and got a UniFi router

For now simply using it for my home network in a small apartment. But wanted something where I can both connect some devices with Ethernet and also with WiFi. Plus down the road I have the flexibility to install additional apps if and when I get a house (wife wants one, so definitely happening) and
