Why did it take so Long for VPN companies to become a big thing amoungst the public?
It used to be a gimmick, like Tunnelbear. Like getting a radio station from far away at night. Then the free ones were dog slow and limited in bandwidth. Today they are better but not great. Best Free VPN for 2025?
Free VPNs are a mixed bag. Like you, I tested Proton (too few servers), Windscribe (great until the 10 GB cap) and TunnelBear (500 MB just vanishes). One free option that didn’t cap my data was X-VPN’s free tier. It has a handful of servers and no monthly bandwidth limit. Speeds weren’t blazing but
