Yes this is the way. You can get flexible clamp arms to enable you to point the camera in a sensible direction. Also these days the camera will pan/tilt to follow any motion. Just be sure to turn off the infra-red LEDs otherwise they will reflect off the window and you just get glare. Edit: Tapo C20

A few in this sub including myself have the tapo C230 or generally a tapo camera. They are from amazon and not that expensive, I had the tapo C200 before but bought the 230 version because it had a wider range of view and better quality.
