Residential (Discounted) plan RIP.
You are welcome. My old router gave up the ghost before Christmas, so now my house is running mesh on TpLink Deco x55. Love the coverage, just not the upsell for premium monitoring.

X55 access point help
Your setup is actually really solid for a first-time mesh install, especially with the MoCA wired backhaul. Using three Deco X55 units in Access Point (AP) mode with each one getting a direct Ethernet feed from the basement router via MoCA adapters is one of the best ways to do this. Wired backhaul

G4SE extender
The other advice you got was bad. Hope im not too late. There is nothing wrong with you g4se modem. Its what I use and plan on using for years to come. It has the external antenna port that I have hooked up to a waveform antenna. If your internet wasn't good enough that is what id have you do. Get a

Mesh wifi extenders vs normal wifi extenders
Mesh has better handover logic between nodes via controller built-in, wifi6 will make it even more efficient... Got a 4-node deco x55 system for the parents 3k sq/ft with wireless backhaul, works well and just got a dual node for my townhouse- no disappointment at all

X55 access point help
Without knowing the model of your ISP router, I can't say for sure whether the ISP router or the Deco has better "on-paper" speed capabilities. Though, generally speaking, multiple mesh nodes should provide better coverage and roaming than a single ISP router. That said, if the ISP router isn't requ

Mesh-system recommendations
Ebox only supports up to 1gbs download speed and with the size of your house there is no reason to buy something expensive. Get Deco x55 / x50 - usually it goes for $193-225 (3-pack) but sometimes for no good reason the price will jump to +$300 (DO NOT buy it for that price lol) Ebox won't lower the

Is the Unifi Dream 7 overkill for my needs?
So something like the Deco X55 with Ethernet Backhaul might be a better solution for more consistent speeds throughout the house?

Recommend a WiFi Mesh
I use 3 Deco X50s and a Deco X55. They’re good with a connected backhaul. Pierces through walls well, even maintaining a connection across the street from our house. Just always be mindful of the placement, and make sure to not choke the network by buying too many or not enough devices.
