Archer AXE75

I had some lower end Lynxis router and tons of issues with portal, got myself TP-Link's Archer AXE75 for Christmas and let me tell you, this thing is a beast. No issues since, and super simple app to manage network and all settings.

I've been having great range with the TP-Link AXE5400 (Archer AXE75). Not sure about long term use though with issues around TP-Link, and the potential removal from the market in the US.

What’s airport? The apple router? I would get the most powerful router you can afford. Look for processing speed/memory and signal strength. The more it has the better it will perform.
