Can you help me choose a dash camera?

Cams typically only record for a few moments after being unplugged, then save the file and shutdown. If you are concerned about an intruder unplugging the camera a Blackvue Box model may partially address that. Thinkware u3000 is indeed a great, reliable, option.

Christmas gift ideas

Viofo A229 Pro seems to be the most recommended here. The A329S is newer, but more expensive. The sensor is the same, but it has USB-C external storage capability. The deals are better on the A229 Pro. Another one people swear by is the Thinkware U3000. It's very highly rated, but is only 2 channel,

Which dash cam recommendation please...easier install?

Can you define complicated install? Most dash cams have roughly the same install. Most complicated part is cleanly running the wiring through the car and figuring out which fuses to use for hardwiring. You could use a different method to power, but hardwiring with add a fuse is easy enough that I do

Dash cam recommendation?

Thinkware. I've used the u1000 for over 5 years with zero problems. I recently got a u3000 pro for my '26 rav4. For anyone asking why not use the stock dashcam, it's simply not good enough. It's a nice feature to have but it doesn't compare to the features and video quality from dedicated dashcams

Ended up putting a Thinkware ARC 900 in my wife’s car too

Love this writeup. I've been in the market for a dashcam and finally decided on THINKWARE. This is super helpful to hear from someone running both U3000 Pro and ARC 900 in the same household. I really like the way you framed the difference between your priorities and your wife’s too. For a lot of pe

Looking for dashcam recommendations.

I installed a Thinkware U3000 (front and back) in my ‘25 Elite a couple months ago. I did a video on how to avoid the airbags when doing the install - I haven’t seen anyone else do it the right way on YouTube: https://youtu.be/kQfLTsj-pGc I assume that anything since 2018 is similar. I’ve had good l

Recommendations please

Thinkware u3000 pro is true 4k, as are many models below it. Reliable too.

Beware the red van

It's a very reliable dashcam - at least in my experience; it's still the recommended option on r/Dashcams, but here are some more choices: Best cam recommendations Best Value (Solo Cam): Viofo A119 Mini 2 ($86-130 USD) Viofo A129 Plus ($112-140 USD) - Similar to A119v3, but 60fps Thinkware F70 Pro (

I'm back in the game!

I am honestly not an expert, but if you go to r/dashcams, they will have a ton of good advice for you on models. I have a dual front/rear Thinkware U3000 dashcam that is hardwired (paid a shop to install). So it turns on during car operation, then goes into like a low power mode when the car is off
