New watch recommendations?
I'm loving the new Google Health app and the Fitbit Air that arrived today. I wouldn't let reddit effect my decision, it's an echo chamber for people with little social outlets. I also have a suunto Ocean, which is a beast of a thing, and I adore it. But I only wear it for specific activities... It

First Dives: Garmin Descent X30
My Suunto Ocean is able to map dives and it's reasonably accurate. It takes the gps position at the point of entry and ascent, and uses compass, gyroscope, magnometer, pressure sensors to provide a 3d map of your dive. It's excellent! Was a huge hit on the boat after my last dive, to the extent that

Help me decide: Shearwater Peregrine vs Peregrine TX vs Suunto Ocean
The Shearwater computers are dive computers. You are only getting a dive computer. The Suunto Ocean is a dive computer + sports watch + outdoor GPS, etc. Personally, I have a watch I use for outdoor activity and a Shearwater for diving. I used to try and buy the thing that could do multiple jobs but

Ask for diving computer recommandations
Suunto Ocean... It's a dive computer, a fitness tracker, has gps maps for navigation on land... The stand out feature is the dive mapping, it's such a great function that other computers don't have. Also, they use the same algorithm as Shearwater and Garmin...

Looking for a dive computer with 3D dive mapping + Subsurface compatibility
No. Again, this is called dead reckoning. I would suggest you read a little about it - compass alone is not enough. At the very least, the watch is going to use an accelerometer to attempt to get an idea of distance traveled. But because little errors add up in using dead reckoning, to do it even ha

Advice for new Dive computer
Suunto Ocean or Nautic S are fantastic. I've been able to set up my Ocean exactly as I want it since the last update. Pod transmitter works perfectly. The underwater mapping is amazing!!! And it can be used as a smart watch... I was diving in Vietnam and also used my Ocean to navigate on my scooter.

Help me decide: Shearwater Peregrine vs Peregrine TX vs Suunto Ocean
I don't think I will go with AI, at least for now, since I only dive while traveling. that being said, I only take dive's shop equipment beside mask and hopefully dive computer. I don't think it is worth the hassle of hooking it up every time, but i like the option to have it, just in case. Thanks fo

Is the Race 2 the best adventure watch right now regardless of price?
Let's assume all software issues get fixed i would caution against that assumption. unlike garmin, suunto do not have a very reactive software team. there any many long-standing issues that show no sign of being fixed. the suunto ocean didn't get a firmware update for a year after launch! what i did

Why is Suunto so disliked?
Mine’s an old grudge. I don’t like their 1980’s backpacking compasses. Fast forward a few decades to roughly nowish, try one of their wrist diving compasses. Buy a suunto Ocean (key man pricing) with transmitter, took it tec diving a bit. Still don’t like suunto. The compasses are too “sticky” and t

Suunto Nautic colours
400 dives on an EON Core. Never been locked out. I don’t get this almost religious devotion you have. It’s only a dive computer. It’s a piece of equipment. Having multiple companies making computers is good for diving, they are all bringing innovation. I personally think it is great that Garmin, Suu
