It doesn't really matter. No wrist sensor will be as good as a chest strap. So if you think to update only because of that it doesn't sound like money well spent. Suunto is a much smaller company that nearly bit the dust a few years ago and changed hands several times before turning things around under the current owners. Suunto will support the Race 2 for way longer than Garmin will support the FR 970. The Suunto 9 peak Pro is still getting (almost) the same features as the newer watches! I own a Race S, bought last December, and I expect it to get (proper) updates until 2029.

My first Suunto was the 9 Peak Pro! I fell in love with it, but I’m pretty sure the web app had already been removed at this point? So this might be a case of I don’t know what I’m missing 🤣 The silver lining is.. I do love the mobile app (what got me into Suunto in the first place) 👊🏽
