If he only had 1 VPN, there's a chance the one that he subscribed to isn't working in China at this time. I always used strong VPN while I was in China before and it worked great I haven't been back in 6 years so I can't speak for how it is recently but it may be worth a try

That's the same for StrongVPN, which works well on my Mac, but fails on iPhone...While for surfshark, it works better on the phone compared to Mac

I’m in NOVA. I’ve used Strong VPN and MLBTV the last few years whenever the Guardians play the Os or the Nats. Has always worked. Usually just pick an IP address in Chicago.

I use one from strongvpn, but any VPN service that offers dedicated ip(almost always non blacklisted) mind you they will be subscription based. No free VPN is dedicated afaik hence why blacklisted
