Fellow Opus after ~16 months of daily use:

To be fair, there are some very nice (and simple!) full metal chinese grinders that probably won't ever break. Country of origin isn't everything. (*to elaborate. Got a Starseeker E55 Pro a few months ago. Curious to see how it will hold up over the years, but it looks and feels promising.)

So I bought a Fellow Opus….

If you decide to return it due to the retention issues, there's other quality electric grinders in this price range like the Starseeker E55 Pro, Mokkom 64mm, etc. I'm not going to price shame anyone. I wish you the best of luck getting a grinder that you're happy with.

[~$500 or less] looking for a single dose grinder

I got the starseeker E55 pro and really like it. Definitely punches above its price point. Solid build quality. No mess.

Bambino + DF54 - Best bang for my buck first station?

Yeah this grinder is way overrated. Every week there's a new post about it clogging. Hell there's another one on the first page of this subreddit right now! https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/comments/1rvvp56/df54_v3_retention_and_clogging_issue/ https://www.reddit.com/r/gaggiaclassic/comments/1qcqxop/df

Grinder [$350]

I’ll throw my hat in for the starseeker e55 pro. Built like a tank, single doser, and has been handling multiple roasts with ease and very low/no retention. Can be bought for less than $200 too.

Budget Grinder Options [$350]

I got a starseeker e55 pro and am honestly shocked at how good the espresso it makes is. I’m coming from a k6 manual that is focused more on clarity but the e55 shots just taste better to me. I can imagine the k6 would be better for someone into light roast pour overs with a focus on clarity and fla

Should I buy a grinder

A capable grinder and fresh beans (as in good beans roasted relatively recently) are the best step ups you can make in my opinion. Kingrinder definitely do good grinders by all accounts but the manual aspect might get a bit tiresome at some point. But for the money, you'll be getting really good qua

Eureka Oro vs… [$700]

Update here - just dialed in the first shots on the Starseeker E55 Pro. Best shots I’ve pulled to date. Such a massive upgrade for me. Very easy to use and dial in. Machine feels extremely solid and well built. Obviously only first few shots but it does need quite a bit of pushing of the bellows to

Dark roast grinder [700-1000$]

I went through the exact same decision process. Niche sounded like it was perfect for me and was unsure about paying the premium with the tariffs. Bought a Eureka Oro that arrived defective. Decided to take a chance on a highly reviewed cheaper option (despite being very much willing to spend much m

Gifted an incredible machine but can’t afford a top tier grinder to match…what’s good enough? [$250]

When my Encore ESP died, I got a Starseeker E55 Pro for ~$200 something (I'm not from the US) on ali express. Having used it for a few months, I can say I'm pretty impressed with the quality. It's considerably better than the Baratza, better build quality, grinds faster, less noise, less retention,
