all 3 of the sony readers I've picked up recently had good battery life still (prs-300, T1, prs-350). It's really going to be a crapshoot with these old devices. Most you can replace the battery with a little know-how.

Sony prs-350 doesn’t have any WiFi connection at all. It’s older but still holds up to modern epubs and PDFs just fine. I got mine for about $50 on eBay. Bonus is it’s literally pocket sized.

I have a Sony E-Reader, that I haven't used in a while, but I remember I could just download fanfics and put them straight on it. The whole process was very easy. Not sure if those are sold anymore tho. Might find one used.
