If dlux is a Panasonic then is M11 a Sony with no autofocus

I asked myself the same question. Eyesight issues forced me to stop shooting with my M9, after five decades shooting Leica I just cannot do the rangefinder thing any longer. I considered the M EV1 but figured the Sony A7Riv has the same sensor at a fraction of the price. So I am selling the M9 and f

Choosing a camera for concerts

It depends on whether you want to move towards video at some point. For example, I use both the Sony A7IV and the Sony A7R IV. The R is usually overkill, but great if you only want to take photos from the front of house or if you want to print extremely large images. The A7 IV performs as well in ph

Does the "M Purist" identity even exist in 2026?

For many M Purists the change comes with increasing age and decreasing eyesight. In my own case, developing cataracts and experiencing corneal damage following a fall caused me to reevaluate my photography. My M9 has stayed on the shelf while I have continued shooting with a Sony A7ii, a Sony RX100i

Is there anyone who has used both Sony and Olympus cameras?

I have the a6300, a7ii and a7r4. On the Olympus side, I have the OM-1.ii and E-P7. I don't use the kit lens on the Olympus cameras - I mostly use the 12-40/2.8 PRO. The Sony kit lens is shit, and the kit lenses I have for my older Olympus cameras are excellent, and so are samples I've seen online fo

Paranoia walking around with 5k camera?

Pros, how did you chose which camera was right for you?

I was in your shoes not all too long ago, as an Arts major picking a camera system. I chose because I asked a professor, Sony was (still is) his second system alongside P1. I liked the array of bodies overall, the a1 and especially a7r lines were well suited to my needs (all stills, high quality, co

I would definitely spend more on the glass and go for the Sony a7R IV option. The Sigma 24-70mm II is a great option for an all-rounder zoom. I would also consider the Sigma 14mm F1.8 and Sony 16mm F1.8 for the wide, prime lens option.

Considering the switch to mirrorless… but which one?

I have a similar story to yours. I had been amassing a good number of L lenses for a 5dMkIII, doing mostly just family shoots (large extended family) when I jumped to mirrorless. First mistake: I chose Panasonic APSC because it was the cheapest body I could find that did 4k videos (was starting to g

I would consider selling your Sony 18-135mm and saving up for the Tamron 70-180mm G2 F2.8 or Sigma 70-200mm F2.8. Getting a fast telephoto lens will have a much greater benefit for your low-light scenarios where you need reach than simply upgrade to a full frame body. I would try out that setup firs
