Just what do I give up when I go to APS-C in low light?

Pro wedding shooter here. My weddings are on full frame Sony's (A7r4 and A9ii). My personal stuff I carry a Fuji x-e5. I've shot low light ceremonies where I cannot use flash on the Sony's and I've shot low light on the x-e5 such as Thanksgiving. With really bad light, both crop and full frame look

I've been researching cameras & lenses for weeks and have narrowed my final choice down to Olympus or Sony, but I can't decide between them. What should I do?

Inevitability the conversation will come around to (be dominated by) the eternally boring M43 vs FF sensor. This is the wrong path to go down for you, IMO. There are as many advantages to M43 as there are for FF and ditto disadvantages. Firstly I'm going to quote your specific genres that you shoot

It is up to you but another factor for me is that I prefer the Sony 200-600mm over the Canon 200-800mm. The internal zoom mechanism is really nice to have and adds to the weather sealing of the lens. Also, it is a faster lens overall but it is mitigated a bit by using an APS-C body. In terms of reac

How do I get clean shots of Jets without being too dark?

I've only taken a couple shots of moving planes so take this feedback with a grain of salt.. I think your shutter is far too slow here, hence the motion blur when you zoom in. The aperture is probably ok, though given the distance they are from you you might be able to go with a faster aperture. If

I would consider selling your Sony 18-135mm and saving up for the Tamron 70-180mm G2 F2.8 or Sigma 70-200mm F2.8. Getting a fast telephoto lens will have a much greater benefit for your low-light scenarios where you need reach than simply upgrade to a full frame body. I would try out that setup firs

Are dedicated dso astrophotography cameras much different to a dslr camera in quality?

Yes. DSLRs and mirrorless cameras overwhelmingly suffer from issues such as concentric ring artifacts and "star eating". The former affects literally every camera other than the very expensive Sony A7CR, A7RIV and A7RV. There is no reason in 2026 to buy a DSLR/mirrorless specifically for deep sky as

What camera do i need to shoot very low light pic like this ?

Probably need a flash light. It’s very hard to balance the light from fire and the rest of the scene. In terms of high ISO performance, almost all camera releases in the last few years should be fine. I am using Sony A7r4. It’s at least 5 years old and I get good images even at 10000 iso.

No IBIS on most Fujifilm cameras and not really any prime lenses with OIS, is this as big of a deal as people are making it out to be for my use case?

seems there is no consensus on anything in photography! For what it is worth, photography is art and science, the two mess with each other. You also don't exactly buy fuji APS-C for max sharpness. Look at this comparison between a X-T3, X-T5, Lumix S1R, and Sony A7R IV https://www.dpreview.com/revie

Is the Z6III right for me?

Yes the Z6III is comparable versus the A7 series. It’s got advantages in ergonomics (subjective), quality/cost of lenses (the S line primes are fantastic, also consider the 180-600 for wildlife it’s incredible bang for buck) and low light functionality ( a software function that keeps the aperture w

How do I avoid graininess in nighttime photos?

a full frame sensor will be better than a crop sensor for low light my Canon R5 Mark II always impresses me with its low light capabilities. you are a Sony shooter... i have no idea about your budget, but the highest rated Sony camera at dpreview is the Sony A1. it is marketed toward pro photographe
