First camera purchase (under 2 lac) Looking for advice

Since you don't mind buying APS-C, you can look at the Sony a6700. 4K60p with little to no crop plus 4K120p with a sizeable crop. It has IBIS as well.

Is Ricoh GR just better?

GRs are super portable, so you are inclined to take it to more places, take more photos and create more chances to take good picture. However, these are niche cameras with dogshit video quality, fairly slow fixed prime lens and mediocre at best autofocus - old Nikon D750 blows it out of the water an

Should I get the Sony a6600 or a6700 as my first camera?

The 55-210 isn’t a good lens, I’d avoid that tbh. The 18-300 isn’t exceptional either but considering it’s a superzoom lens it’s more forgivable. If you want a dedicated wildlife telephoto lens, the sony 70-350 is a great option. I’d go second hand in any case, and while the a6700 has some nice upgr

Advice for a first time buyer?

IMO buy used. You don’t have to spend $2k to get started. Go on MPB, KEH, or Adorama and find something in your price range. Ideally pick up a quality non-kit lens (even a nifty-50 would be better than a kit lens imo), and get to learning. If you’re trying to do primarily video you’ll eventually wan

Last night in the Lake District

Hey, these were shot with a Sony A6700 mirrorless with a Tamron 18-300 lens :) It's a hybrid camera that I actually primarily use for video (as I make outdoor films), but it takes reasonably decent photos. I like it because it's quite a small and lightweight camera, especially compared to my big Can

XM5 digital stabilization

you definitely can shoot static shots without stabilization filmmakers didn't have any for decades and cinema cameras don't have any today just learn how to stabilise your camera while shooting (pushing against strap, leaning on walls/posts/trees, 2 handed grip, top handle, tripod,...) ibis and ois

Any tips for THE camera?

If you're not afraid of selling on marketplaces then it's perfectly fine to try a cheaper body in a brand ecosystem (Sony/Canon/Panasonic etc) then later sell and upgrade while keeping lenses which are equal if not more important. There are photographers who still shoot beautiful pictures on cameras

Sony A7C vs a6700 -- is it worth the extra money?

If you want a more compact setup, need more reach (wildlife, birding), plan to shoot video or use third-party strobes - get A6700. It's arguably the best APS-C on the market, and it is great. The sensor readout speed is amazing for video, and it has a proper full-mechanical shutter so you won't have

Planning my next camera for 2026, what should I be looking at?

What are you shooting? Events, wildlife, sports, …? Is camera weight a consideration? How many megapixels do you think you need / what quality video do you need? On the Nikon side the Z8 is top of the line and pretty much unbeatable on the market imho. Amazing low light performance, incredible autof
