How much camera do you really need for the AT? This is Virginia, as shot on Sony a6400 vs Sony a7Rii.
I threw this together for all the people who ask what kind of camera to buy. I carried a Sony a6400 with a basic 16-50mm lens when I hiked the AT in 2022. I went back to some of the same areas this summer with my Sony a7Rii and 24-70GM. The difference between these two setups is enormous - the 24-70

The Smiling Chef - Guangzhou, China. (Sony A6400 + Sigma 30mm F1.4)
Took this photo during Saturday’s city stroll for the Worldwide Photo Walk 2025, and is a favorite of mine for the year so far. The guy was incredibly friendly and happy to be framed. Unfortunately I’d just had lunch so couldn’t stick around for some of his food, a delicious a local dish of honey gl

My favorite shots from Sicily pt. 2
After the positive replies on my first post, I decided to make another selection of my favorite photo’s taken in Sicily.
I love taking photo’s with my Sony A6400 and mostly do this during my holiday trips.
Hopefully in the future I can find a way to make it more professional.

APS-C has enlightened me as a former full-frame user.
TL;DR: I used to shoot with a Canon EOS R (full-frame) but switched to a Sony a6400 (APS-C) after a few years without a camera. Initially, I worried about missing full-frame benefits like better noise handling and bokeh, but I quickly adapted. The a6400’s light weight surprised me, and despite some

I'm not a photographer - which Ricoh would you recommend?
For what you're looking to do, I'm going to recommend a used Sony RX100 IV or VII. Or if pocket portability is not a major factor, a Sony A6400 with a zoom lens. I wouldnt recommend a GR for wildlife, its AF is far too slow even in daylight (since you say you capture in the moment).

Annapurna Circuit – breathtaking beyond words
I am using a Sony a6400 + Tamron 17-70mm lens. Except pic 4 and 6 all photos were done with that setup. The other two photos were shot on a Canon EOS R5 + 17-70mm by someone else in our group. The Sony setup with the Tamron lens is amazing for hiking, as it is less than 1kg and very flexible.

I got this as my first camera!
Congrats! The a6000 was my first real camera too and I have since upgraded to the a6400... I still keep the a6000 for outings where it's helpful to have two cameras or when my gf wants to join me in the photography. For awhile, I was OBSESSED with finding new gadgets and gizmos, cases, filters, stra

With the tech of modern phones what are your thoughts on dedicated cameras
I bought a Sony a6400 a couple of years ago with a nice lens. Spent ages looking forward to it, and honestly, it’s great. It takes great photos and video.
There’s no doubt that if you want to take the best quality photos or video, perhaps for your work, you need to get equipment dedicated to it. Pr

Why do so many people dislike kit lenses?
Size is a bit advantage many have as well. The Sony E PZ 16-50mm SELP1650 for example is very compact and includes OSS. I can't really think of another lens that is so small with that zoom range. Really gives something like the A6400 a point and shoot vibe that makes it easy to carry.

Camera Recommendation for High Altitude
I use the Sony a6400 and that thing is a workhorse with a large variety of affordable lenses. Very approachable price point and weight, phenomenal photos.
