Having a hard time choosing between Ring and Blink

I know you said you aren't looking for alternatives, but I'd suggest you skip those brands entirely, because what you need/want can't be done with those brands if you are looking specifically for cameras, you will end up with the same issues as your sister or worse. Those 2 brands are garbage and se

Still struggling with CCTV false alerts in 2026

I just use the built-in person detection on my cheap Reolink E1 Pro webcam and it never seems to make a mistake.

By Police to see if this homeowner's cameras work

So I have 5 cameras and a NVR (Network Video Recorder, essentially a 2TB hard drive for the cameras). 4 of the cameras are hardwired to the NVR with POE ethernet and have pan and tilt autotracking, the doorbell uses WiFi and is stationary. I have about a week of 24x7 video storage in 4K and then eac

Frequent Error Screens and Web Page Decline

I have two Reolink E1 (Zoom and Pro), Eufy wifi floodlight PTZ, and a Amcrest Wifi Doorbell. Some are super stable, some are not. I have Unifi U6 APs with nothing under -60Db, my wifi is rock solid. Some of the wired cameras are not stable too. The problem doesn't split on the wifi/wired divide

Tapo C121 vs REOLINK E1 Pro for basic indoor security camera?

E1 pro destroys the tapo in every single spec you can think of, especially if it is hardwired with ethernet the difference would be absurd. But if you are already plugging ethernet you might as well get a PoE camera instead, and that would be an absurd upgrade over any of those 2 options which are t

Reolink Doorbell (Battery - v2) [SOLVED]

Yeah, I misunderstood how you were getting the data at first, sorry about that. I've had really good luck with Reolink, except that first doorbell. I'm running the elite floodlight wifi, E1 zoom, and that wired wifi doorbell. All wifi, and using the Reolink hub. No issues with frigate or home assist

Suggestion on a single camera

A Reolink E1 Pro or RLC-810A works great for this, both can record directly to your PC via FTP or their app without needing a hub. Just point it at the yard and enable motion alerts. Solar powered ones are nice but battery can struggle in winter; I'd go PoE if you can run a cable.

Indoor camera with continuous recording

Reolink E1 Pro is perfect for this, plugs in, records 24/7 to an SD card, and you can toggle continuous recording on/off right from the app. No subscription needed. I use one for a similar situation and it’s been rock solid. Just pop in a 128GB card and you’re set.

Issues with Reolink E1 pro camera PTZ and preset positions control

ONVIF Reolink E1 pro camera. Don’t use the ONVIF plugin to integrate this camera; use the reolink plugin instead. PTZ controls work perfectly. Both the plugins indicated below work will with the E1 Pro (and E1 Outdoor Pro), permitting proper PTZ use:
