Poor Man’s Dual Boiler
I always wonder why more people don't do that.Even if you'd buy two brand new Rancilio Silvia and use one exclusively for steam and the other one for Espresso it would be still cheaper than a wide range of dual boiler... The only downside is shelf real estate and having to explain this brilliant ide

Nice start! Rancilio Silvia is a great machine for modding - a better host than the often used Gaggia classic for sure. More room in the case, any easy to disassemble it to the frame to expose the internals! Is the scale connected in for brew-by-weight?

Top espresso machines on Reddit by positive & negative comments - for tinkering vs beginners vs speed etc. Based on 725 posts in the past year (Mar 2026)
Man, my Rancilio Silvia with the GaggiaMate upgrade changed my coffee-life completely. Can't recommend enough, though the Silvia is tough to tinker with (not enough room for big hands, had to get my youngins' involved).

If La Marzocco is the Ferrari of espresso machines, what is your machine like?
I have a Rancilio Silvia Pro X, and I couldn’t figure out what car it’d be. Toyota Avalon? Then I thought, no wait… it’s a Volvo. Just nice enough around the edges not to be a beat up Nissan Altima, but definitely milquetoast. Then I saw your comment, which made me feel validated. I’m going to add t

Best coffee machines around $2k
If you’re rarely doing milk drinks, then the Rancilio Silvia at ~ $1400 is a great machine. Its looks are a little utilitarian, but if that doesn’t bother you then save some cash. They’re built well and will last a long time.

Anyone here gaggiamate their gaggia classic e24 and regret all the fuss?
I have a rancilio silvia v3 with a gaggimate. It was a learning curve of around a month or two to figure out how to use it properly but I don't regret it. The gaggimate is perfect for a bare bones old gaggia or silvia. I personally would buy a 10 year old second hand machine and mod. It justifies th

First and endgame Espresso setup - NYC [any budget]
I rarely recommend it since there’s better value out there, but a white Micra sounds exactly like what you’re looking for. It doesn’t leave a lot of room for the grinder with a $5k budget though so unless you’re open to going over that, you might have to pass. A white Rancilio Silvia Pro X would als

Giotto fast vs TCA - Advice please!
Excellent decision you’re faced with. And unless you’re somebody that chops-and-changes frequently, it’s worth thinking your way through it.Disclaimer: I have no experience of either machine. Though I did work my way through similar decision-making a few years back. I was moving from a Rancilio Silv

This setup is bonkers
Yep i spent a lot of time looking at the Ascaso Steel Duo. For almost a year, it was the machine i was most likely to buy. I kept wavering between it and the Rancilio Silvia Pro X. I struggled making up my mind between the two. I really wanted to stay with convieniance of my Bambino Plus being insta

Retro/Vintage Styled Small(er) Machines [$800]
when you say vintage, what type of look are you going for? there's the francis x1 with the sorta 50s anemoian look, but to me, an e61 machine looks and feels more authentically vintage from around that time period. there's also the rancilio silvia and similar builds with a small footprint and a more
