HOT TAKE - It's actually kinda okay to start with a suitcase player

that's the problem with any hobby, there always elitists that sh*t on anyone tha't doesnt do things their preferred way like i have a bunch of pairs of speakers, inluding Polk Audio Reserve R200's and Polk Audio Legend L200's, which have the exact same drivers in them and they sound almost identical

My first HiFi setup.

Price to sound quality; I'd be surprised if polk could be beat. I currently have 2 pairs: A9's for power, and a new pair of audio reserve R200 for finesse.

Not noticing much of a difference between a cheap Angel's Horn and a Fluance

The Edifier speakers are the bare minimum and are often paired with the bare minimum AT-LP60X. Don't expect records to sound as good as digital, records have their own sound with their own flaws and frustrations while giving you a physical format to play and collect. Better larger passive speakers o

Editors! What speakers do you have for your home theater? After working on Genelecs all day editing, I'm considering getting their home theater speakers.

I have a set Polk Audio Reserve R200 with a Leak amplifier. Bought a bigger amplifier in case I wanted to add surround speakers but ultimately haven’t done that yet. Bought the speakers as my turntable set up and have since routed my tv through it. The speakers are excellent for the price and I don’

Am I getting carried away?

Why not upgrade to the Polk Reserve R-200, the top bookshelf they make? Danny G. thought they were hard to improve upon. Then, if there’s still an itch to scratch, upgrade the amp to separates….miniDSP SHD as your preamp, and a pair of Fosi V3 Monos as amps. This will give you Dirac Live, an analog

r/audiophile Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk Thread

Your room layout doesn't necessarily seem problematic to me, but you'd have to make a frequency response measurement at the listening position to find out if there is a significant channel imbalance due to asymmetrical reflections. I would only go so far to do that if you notice the sound really is

Good enough?

I’m 34 and I’m happy with my systems. The one I have on the tv are Polk R200 bookshelf speakers and XT12 sub on a Yamaha RX-A4A receiver and it’s fantastic to listen to all music. It gets louder than I can play it, but even at respectful neighbor volumes it fills the space and it’s a physical experi

Upgrade fluance rt82, or buy new table?

You’re overthinking it. The RT82 is a fine turntable. You want a better cartridge and stylus such as the AT VM95ML. That is a bigger upgrade than buying a more expensive turntable. As for $1k speakers, check out Erins audio takes on Sierra 1 v2 Or for half price, but almost as good check out the Pol

Speaker recommendation for IEM listener

I think that the Ascend Sierra used to be (for a while at least) sold at a slightly lower price. (They might have been $850, if I can trust my flaky memory.) They, as they are internet direct brand (no distributors etc.), they don’t have hefty dealer markup in their price. So, it’s possible that the
