pocketbook verse (pro) vs clara bw vs other recs?

Verse Lite is just a worse Verse, just forget about it (smaller battery, no buttons, no SD card slot, no warm colour temperature, also not waterproof - as the standard Verse isn't). Portablility: all devices in discussion are 6" devices, there's no difference in portability (Kobo Clara BW is slightl

I'm in love with this thing 😍

First I had a very small Sony (c 4”) that I mostly used to read fanfic. It used PRC files. Was a great little system to read everywhere. But prc files became rare and epub/mobi took the lead and the Sony was not so useful. Then I briefly had a Kindle 2 still with keyboard, but I gave it away because

I need a 7-8" BW ereader with buttons. Suggestions?

I have the Era & the 8" Carta 1200 PocketBook InkPad 4. Both are decent devices, the screen on both is fine. The Era now is my most favourite device, but I still use my InkPad 4 for manga (bigger screen). I said fine because I could in the past compare my InkPad 4 to a Carta 1300 sunken screen Kobo

All the Ereaders I want to buy are sold out!

The Sage appears to be completely discontinued; it's been out of stock for months everywhere. Have a look at the PocketBook InkPad 4. It's an 8 inch black and white 300 ppi reader with physical page buttons like the Sage. Effortless sideloading just like Kobo, it even has an email-to-device function

Trying to decide on upgrade from a dying Kobo Clara HD

My first e-reader is a Kobo Clara HD (6 inch, 300 ppi) that I got second hand for 20 bucks last year. It's served me well but the battery is pretty much toast; it completely dies once it reaches around 85% and then takes over a day to recharge and goes through a factory reset, so I basically have to

New e-reader recs, best for side loading

Ereaders don't get released every year like phones, so new is very relative. 6'' Kobo Clara BW (or 6'' PocketBook Verse Pro if you are willing to accept a lower contrast), 7'' PocketBook Era, 8'' PocketBook InkPad 4 or 8'' Kobo Sage are I would say your options if you want a non-Android black & whit

Mea culpa of a skeptic

I tried KOReader once without much success. Found it too complex to adapt when installing it on my old Kobo Auro One, even if I really wanted the dark mode (KA1 didn't have it natively). Then I bought a PocketBook InkPad 4, which I love, except for the "meh" stats and in reader mode info (only indic

Spoilt for choice: PocketBook Verse Pro (BW) vs PocketBook Era (BW)

I never touched a Kindle and won't likely ever, so I can't tell you anything objectively comparison-wise. I have an InkPad 4 (same screen as the Era, so Carta 1200 and a flush glass front) and had a PocketBook Verse (Carta 1000; while the standard Verse only has 212ppi, the Pro also has 300ppi like

Undecided about buying a Verse Pro

You can only answer this for yourself. Verse Pro indeed has an older screen tech, so the contrast is lower compared to the Kobo Clara BW. But you (likely) don't have a Kobo Clara BW, so against what will you compare it without also having a Kobo Clara BW? You can only decide for yourself how importa

I absolutely love the integration of Koreader with Pocketbook.

I currently own the InkPad 4. Before that, I had the Libra H2O and the Libra 2, but I wanted an 8" reader again. I had previously owned the InkPad 3 and had very good memories of it, so I decided to buy the InkPad 4. It’s pretty great. While it’s probably not as snappy as a new Kindle's, it doesn’t
